This is an excellent summary of what VO talent need to learn. I love the way Vanessa covers everything in this class...from how to learn to act, to equipping the studio, to auditions, agents, and more. She really has a feel for what's going through a newbie's mind and answers the questions they're thinking! Plus, she refers them to other resources such as Harlan Hogan's book and the VoiceOver Insider. Excellent job, Vanessa!

We learn a lot from Vanessa Hart by just LISTENING to the easy, natural
style of this pro, as she reviews voice acting, home studio considerations,
voice-over education and more in this very informative program. It's great for
newcomers AND for voice-over veterans. As Vanessa notes, continuing education is
a must, from a variety of sources.

Just listened to your "Power of Five" recording. Good stuff - a great overview. Picked up some great ideas.
Based on what you said I followed up with a client today - "taking the pulse" because I just had a gut feeling after I did the last job for him. All is well, and he appreciated the follow-up and spoke of working with me in the future. :-) I like your take on demos too - that it's not necessary to spend thousands. And the fact that everyone is driving their own train, making their own choices. Good stuff Vanessa.
No fluff. No 'Get-rich-quick' schemes. No nonsense.
Filled with refreshingly sound voice over career advice and highly recommended!

I listened to The Power of Five_The Fundamentals, three times. Each time I listened to the program I heard something that I hadn't heard prior.
The Power of Five is a exactly what Vanessa said it was, a fundamental study of Voice Acting. This program could have easily been expanded to a course study on each of the Five points. This program is a powerful concentration of information. Power of Five is so concentrated it could be expanded into an all day workshop and still not be diluted.
I have The Power of Five on my iPod and listen to it while working or out and about. I will continue to list to this program over and over again as I do glean more each time I listen to it. I am also going to sit down with the pen and paper and the Text sent with the program and study with it.

New to voice acting? Or even not so new. This is the best, most comprehensive and informative "program" I've yet seen. She's extremely knowledgeable, has a great ear, really cares about her students, and communicates beautifully. And finally, there's a Vanessa Hart intangible, which though it may not be important to a lot of folks, is of vital importance to me. Her integrity. Her honesty. And her total committment to both. In a city where people will say & do anything they feel will benefit their professional and financial existences, finding a person like Vanessa either as a friend, or an acting coach, or a talent, is most rare. And should be treasured.

Vanessa's first audio lecture in her series, "The Power of 5" - "The Fundamentals" - yields of her own personal truisms, mind-sets, agendas and techniques on the craft of voice over. It will help beginners get on the right path, advance the intermediate performer, and remind working pro's that we all have to play chess with our efforts, not checkers. -Pat Fraley, Teacher, Performer
Kudos to Vanessa Hart and the excellent first installment of her series, THE POWER OF FIVE – "The Fundamentals".Pragmatic, useful, and practical information is served up with her infectious enthusiasm and wonderful humor. There are at least five voice books on my bookshelf I have read from cover to cover, and while listening to this program, I still found myself saying, "I never knew that! That is SO helpful!"
The benefit of a printed study guide to go along with the audio lecture is an added bonus. In this way, one can be listening and taking notes at the pertinent sections in a manner that communicates to them individually, and/or in areas where he or she would benefit most.
All in all, a wonderful program chock full of basic but absolutely needed information.I highly recommend this program to voice actors in all stages of their careers – I guarantee an "I never knew that!" moment for everyone.
